Chapter Five

  In the function of articulation

They would let the contentions to the now-crime take its legitimate-course. Angels and arduousness, aside; the code was now fostered and official. The many evidential-officiations were now, being fully-divulged to be decreed and declared... ...Impacted and empowered to fully-ensconce and edify, the incentive on a complicity; to exact and extend the 'Long Arm of the Law'... The perceptive-policing command were systematically, in a defining-accord. The individual probably, knew little about what were the exact-perfunctory-essences of criminology; other than by the commercial-media.

Prey had a 'galvanized'-aptitude which many powerful, profound and prodigious professionals, knew of... And as they left their first 'clue'-site, they became the leading-edge as crime's counter-insurgency... The crime was major-theft; which could be dangerous or very-serious; carrying a sentence of some time; with the nature of their-behavior, one could be sent to Federal prison or other multiple-crime charges...

Everyone realized that the 'hasty' and imperil of 'strong-arm' acts.. The perpetrators, were not to be taken or alluded to lightly. As the policemen-function and capacity, went Prey and her fellow-law-enforcers were being recompensed in the moments of a commissive-delineation... Some cases, were solved in moments; others days, weeks and months, sometimes years. Impactually and impuningly, the act was reaching its denible-end and completion. With all the fragrant and forceful-actions, 'theft' was as uncertain as a broken piggy-bank, only a matter of picking-up the pieces and deciding on the likely culprit... What was unsure, was when and what?

...Most assailants give illegality either too little or too much thought, in California the 'license' is either too harsh or too readied-for. By principle, Prey saw many of the insights till now, and it was up to her and her-team to pick-up the pieces, a drastic-act, a confounded-statement of dispair, and obvious and cold-act in demented carelessly, all were equatorial. But policing was no dishardened-component, as they went west on Dallas Rd., off Hill; the two cruiser-rode passed a street were a sports-car fitting the description was seen... Prey's team was already on-scene, being a lead-Detective and court-attache, she gave over duties with the 'duty-detail', deliberation and reference in a decisive-allocation.

...It was a long day, she met back at the squad-room, to write-up description and provide integral validification.

You had to 'love' crime, determinative and logistics; and knew what a strong fostering-complicity would be as a dominant-proficiency... The quality and quantification of crime-craft 'work', espouses the very virulent and compassivism...from which conditions and inert-culmination, affix and construe; in the many virtues and variables; that Prey Little-horse and her-crew became deducively, accrued. The many-'maxims' of culture and commutation effectively, probed and proven. She, being the greater-accomplished; in technical and transitional.

The late-afternoon was 'yarring' with clouds and wind, the seas on the shore were becoming active as the sea gulls were coming ashore storms were pulling-in; the evening would see rain. At the LAPD's main-station mid-city, the robbers Prey had investigated were up on the patrol-board... The Captain of evening shift, who admired Prey's skills ;was very interested in the case, but for now there was little time. So Prey gave her 'low-down' on it, the Captain would get further legal-sustenance from her assistant-officers.

Running the numbers were for a less, asserting-time. Plausible and perceptable, things were in a valuable-after a dinner at the Club with her boyfriend of thirteen-years, it was their 'precious'-time, together. Both resigned and recognized hard-work, the entitlement and entity of what was devotion and declarative-work.

Ben Lane, 28, was an off-shore oil-rigger, they were friends and then devotees since childhood as his-father was a construction-worker at her-father's sites. Being together after school, for groups and on-vacations... Ben wasn't the major thing in her life, but he was good for 'kicks'... She was too intellectual and passionate, for being-serious. He knew her work came 'first'.

They'd have a little-'twist', and spend the better part of a day enjoying passive and interactive-preoccupation. She was just getting out of the shower when Ben called to tell her he was on his-way. They rarely spoke about work, even with their equivalent-abilities in different-areas, it was best for them both; that business be 'business'. Their mutual-abilities seem to grow this-way. Before leaving for a night-out, Prey collected her-spirit for R & R, by reading the L.A. Times activities page, it kept things in perspective.

...The car-horn blew from Ben, as the alarm-clock rang-on her-nightstand: it was four am, Friday... New-specs, for the coming week's protocol-day finished but was requiring reorder. Over Coffee and eggs, she finished the report, and expected to be setting-'relationaries', for next month... ...It was May 28th, everyone was corralling-dictations, as the differing-teams turned-up their duties at the station.
